Chrom Design GmbH was founded in 1995 as a sole proprietorship for the production and sale of high-quality automotive accessories. As the company name already suggests, the origin of the Chrom Design program was to produce applications for the interior, back then only for the Mazda MX5, which were made of aluminum, polished and finally chrome-plated.
Thanks to the many years of experience of the managing partner, Ralf Paffrath, who was involved in the development and manufacture of prototypes at Toyota Motorsport between 1989 and 2000, Chrom Design GmbH began to grow rapidly and its range comprised more than 3,000 parts after a short time for a wide variety of automobiles. Chrom Design GmbH's parts are enjoying increasing popularity not only because of their wide range of products, but also because of their accuracy of fit, uncomplicated, modern assembly techniques and quality.
After being converted to a GmbH in 2000, the company acquired a conveniently located headquarters in Troisdorf-Spich in 2003, where it now combines development, sales, part of the production and the central warehouse on an area of around 800 square meters. In addition, the company premises offer sufficient space for on-site conversions of customer vehicles, which has given the company a substantial boost since then.
The production of ABS plastic started in 2004, in 2005 the in-house car upholstery shop opened and in 2007 the sale and installation of seat heating by Chrom Design GmbH began. In order to be able to concentrate fully on the development, production and sale of wind deflectors, the company decided in 2012 to withdraw from the areas of saddlery, seat heating and chrome parts. This decision shaped the development of the in-house wind deflectors and their evolution enormously. After the groundbreaking button on the quick release buckle (2008), the lockable wind deflector was introduced in 2013. In the same year the company developed a quick release fastener with interchangeable tips and only three years later the development of the quick release fastener followed. Last year the screws on the joint were countersunk and this year the development of the divisible wind deflector will be completed.
